Budget Billing

Want to equalize your payments on your natural gas bill?

Budget Billing can help you smooth out the seasonal changes in your natural gas bills. If you meet the requirements, then you can sign up for Budget Billing. Our Budget Billing plan lets you level your payments throughout the year, allowing you to avoid the unpredictable bills that result from seasonal variations in gas usage.

Budget Billing allows you to spread out your annual gas expense over a 12-month period. It doesn't lower your overall expense, but it serves as a convenient way to plan for your household expenses.

How it works

We average your gas cost for the year based on your previous 12-month history. The cost of your gas for that period is divided into equal monthly payments. You receive your bill each month with your leveled charge amount and your actual charges. In the 12th month, we reconcile your monthly payments with your actual charges. Any overpayment will be credited to your account or refunded, any underpayment of $100 or more can be paid in 3-month installments.

It is important to note that while enrolled in the plan, it is the customer's responsibility to adjust their Budget Billing amount throughout the year and at the year-end reconciliation. If there is a large underpayment or overpayment at the end of the year, UC Gas will not automatically raise or lower the amount. Any customer unwilling to monitor their account should not enroll in the Budget Billing Plan.

Eligibility

There are two requirements to be eligible for Budget Billing:

Enrollment

You may enroll in our Budget Billing Plan at anytime; however, it will not actually go into effect until the April billing. All customers start their leveled billing in the same month, so if you missed the window, you'll have to wait until the next April to begin. You can find out what your leveled charge will be and enroll by calling our office at (931) 484-9380.
