Excess Flow Valve
What is an excess flow valve?
An excess flow valve is a mechanical device that is installed on the customer's service line. It is intended to stop the flow of gas should the flow exceed a set rate, such as when the service line is broken by construction or other accidents. When a service line serving only one residential customer is installed or replaced, UC Gas is required to offer the customer the option of having an excess flow valve installed on that service line. Upon request, UC Gas will install an excess flow valve. It is not mandatory to have an excess flow valve installed.
Should the installation of an excess flow valve be desired, the customer must bear all the cost associated with installation, maintenance, and any future replacement or removal of the valve.
The cost of installation must be paid in advance in the amount of One Hundred Dollars ($100.00). Any maintenance and/or replacement cost would be billed at the time this work is done.
